Check it out! WhereInDE.com is 8 months old (when I first published this, I wrote 10 months, but its actually only 8)!  I did not know what to expect when I sat down to create WhereInDE.com on a cold Saturday morning in February, but here we are, 8 months later, and I continue to be impressed with what this has blossomed into.

Take a quick look at the numbers since late-February:

Even as I type these numbers, my only reaction is “wow!” But what’s even cooler is when I meet someone at a networking event, and they say, “Oh, you’re the Where In Delaware guy! I asked a question on there and used one of the recommendations – great website!”

Yes, that really happened. But that’s what really gets me going! That’s what this is all about – connecting locals and sharing knowledge and experiences. So, to all of you who have contributed to WhereInDE.com, THANK YOU for contributing, and thank you for making Delaware awesome!

The Business Side of Things

I regularly spend 2-3 hours per day managing this website. This includes making modest improvements here and there, approving & posting questions, and moderating answers (and deleting SPAM). As you can imagine, as this site grows, these administrative duties are more and more labor intensive. Like anyone else, I’ve got bills to pay. So you’ll starting seeing a few more advertisements sprinkled in the site, but I’ll try my best to keep the ads from dominating.

What’s Next?? Discounts & Coupons!

I created another hyper-local website called DealsInDelaware.com and I’m focusing more of my energy right now on developing that to promote local businesses. There are not a lot of businesses listed yet, but connect with DealsInDE on Facebook, Twitter or subscribe to the emails to get notified of new discounts and coupons.
